Banja Luka got another green oasis – “Liberation Park”, which is dedicated to the victims of the High Treason Process, and which is located on the site of the former “Kozara” cinema. Together with many fellow citizens, the mayor Draško Stanivuković and his colleagues attended the ceremonial opening of the park, and on that occasion he said that this park also represented a victory for the citizens and Banja Luka. – Banja Luka got another park, it’s the story of the new Banja Luka that we have believed in from the beginning. Originally, that spot was planned for the constructio of a skyscraper. Back in 2018, a 15-story building was planned there and it took almost four years of struggling with these people. The struggle was challenging, because you had to change the city regulatory plan, to change the land and this struggle lasted more than two years. This is a great victory for the citizens and our Banja Luka – said the mayor. Banja Luka got the „Book Park“ – a wonderful oasis in the heart of the city, which, in addition to the unusual horticulture, is also decorated with the „Kulin Ban“ Monument. – Through all the parks we are building in the city, we will tell everything about who we are as the people. This Book park with the Kulin Ban monument in its foundations will preserve the identity of the Serbian people and our language – said the mayor, pointing out that the fact that Kulin ban wrote the Charter in Cyrillic on the Day of the Beheading of St. John in 1189 is a sufficient testimony of the Christian and Serbian identity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which began with the following words: “In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit”. He added that the Trade Charter that Kulin Ban wrote for the people of Dubrovnik is a testimony that this is a country where Serbian roots are deep. In addition to the historical significance, the Book Park resolved the issue of street book sellers by giving this area a completely different ambience, which will certainly attract a larger number of fellow citizens and visitors.
